COMPETITIONS, EXHIBITIONS, PROJECTS:

May-June 2008
Starting a commissioned mural (the second) for the Lee County Courthouse.  Jayne, Debbie Thompson, and Arin Thompson are again combining forces with the Lee County Juvenile Probation office.  Several young juvenile offenders, some probation staff, and the artists will be creating a 30 foot long mural depicted an aerial view of Lee County.  Once this project officially starts, a blog just for this project will be posted.

April 19, 2008

Unforgettable Art: This will be Jayne's fourth year of being accepted as one of the 50 artists painting in this fundraising event for the Alzheimer's organization in Rockford, IL.  The event will be held at Arachnid in Loves Park. Hors d’oeuvres, drinks and good company as are available as you watch works of art come alive. The evening will include a silent auction, as well as a live auction of the finished paintings.

March 14 - April 15, 2008

Regional Survey of Art IV: Jayne has been juried into this regional show being held at The Next Picture Show in Dixon, IL.  This survey seeks to showcase area artists and identify current trends in the Rock River Valley art community. The show is open to all regional artists. This is an ALL MEDIA exhibition, both 2D and 3D of work done in the past 2 years. Opening night reception is Friday, March 14, 6 p.m. to 8 pm.

Feb. 23, 2008
ART 4 ARTS SAKE: Jayne will be participating, along with 40 artists, by painting all day and customers will bid on the paintings.  All proceeds go to support The Next Picture Show gallery.  Click on image to get full details of this event.

Jan. 15-31, 2008:  Featured Artist.

Jayne will be featured artist at The Next Picture Show in Dixon, IL for the two weeks listed above.  She will be showing her work at the front of the gallery.

Jan. 26, 2008:  Attending an art marketing workshop by Alyson B. Stanfield called, "I'd Rather Be in the Studio! But I Have to Eat!"  A No-Excuses Art Marketing Workshop, in Lake Forest, Illinois.  Sponsored by the Deerpath Art League.

Jan. 4-Feb. 13, 2008:
RIVER REFLECTIONS: Juried Show at The Next Picture Show gallery in Dixon, Illinois.  Jayne placed first at this show and on that very same evening, the prize-winning painting was SOLD!  Click image for a larger view.

October 9-11, 2007: 
Jayne will be doing the Guest Artist progam again this year with Reagan Middle school (Dixon) 5th and 6th graders, instructor Debbie Thompson.  This will be the third year of this activity.  There are 6 classes of students.  This year's painting subject will be a still life of some sort (still deciding!).  There will be at least 3 -5 different setups to give variety among the classes.  Keep an eye out for pictures and commentary on Jayne's blog.

Sept. 14 - Oct. 16, 2007: 
Jayne has one painting juried into the Farms & Barns 2 show at The Next Picture Show in Dixon.  Update:  Jayne won Best of Show for "Apple Orchard on Brinton."  CLICK image on right for larger view.

September 9, 2007:  Exhibiting at the 59th Grand Detour Art Festival in Grand Detour.  Last year Jayne won Best of Show at this show. Update: Jayne won Best Oils at 2007 show.

August 17-Sept. 11, 2007:  Jayne has two paintings juried into an all woman's show at The Next Picture Show in Dixon.  Update:  Jayne won Best of Show for "From Above: Pears."
