We live just blocks away from the historic DC Booth Fish Hatchery. Lots of fish. This wonderful attraction is free to the public and receives thousands of visitors a year. The hatchery has been under threat of federal closure for the last few years.
Earlier this summer I took pictures and videos of the trout from the lower level observatory.
This painting reflects my take on these photos. Scroll down to see the progress of this piece. Just have to say this new painting technique is taking me longer than my regular, big brush, fast stroke painting style. I worked for around 6 hours today painting and adding lots of detail. After getting up to clean brushes, my right hand was practically numb from holding the brushes in a death grip while adding the small detail work.
One more good day being behind the easel and we'll call her 'done.'
Work in Progress
Just below are pictures showing the painting in progress.
Just one last day to go on this piece. Added a lot more detail.
