"Rehab in Blue," 24" x18" oil on gallery-wrapped canvas
Since having to work the last couple of weekends at
, I got Monday off. And what a quandary. Gorgeous spring day in the Black Hills or take the day to paint.
I painted. This painting is from a photo I took last year. I was on a walk through my neighborhood in Lead, SD. Suffice it to say, Lead is in transition--for the last 40 years. Most of the homes are owned by absentee landlords who don't give a crap about their properties. As long as there are folks willing to live in them cheaply, landlords don't keep them up.
Anyway, Lead is a mountain town and a simple walk around the block is a cardio-exercise. I turned around to catch my breath this day and saw this home lit by the sun. Loved the shot and have been holding on to it to use as a painting subject for a year.
This was relatively easy to paint. Good subjects are. I managed to finish this in one day, but I will reserve sending this to my gallery for a bit. First, it has to dry and second, I tend to find little tweeks to take care of while walking by it for the next few days.
Just below are images of the painting in it's different stages of completion.
