Alzheimer's benefit...and more

Sorry it's taken me a week to post again. The all day painting thing for Alzheimers went great. Just below is Debbie starting on her landscape, "Pink Blacktop."
Just below is my start on a still life. I ws a bit nervous, because I took a photo of this still life a few days before and I was painting it for the first time....knowing it had to be finished by time the Live Auction started.

And finally, just below is both of our completed paintings! We did it in one day. Both of our paintings went for a nice price.

Both Debbie and I packed an overnight bag just in case we spent the night in Rockford with my inlaws (we did that last year). But when I got the van loaded up to leave at 10:30 pm, I decided to just drive home, just less than an hour. I only drank a half glass of wine and felt fine.

I dropped Deb off in Dixon and when I arrived home in Grand Detour, guess what was sitting in my driveway at midnight? A firetruck. With 3 firemen in my kitchen. Apparently a candle was left burning in the upstairs bathroom (daughter and 4 college friends spent the night -Fri.-). Since my husband was running the restaurant, he wasn't at the cottage all day and didn't find the fire until after 10:30pm. Luckily for us, the heat was so intense in the bath, it melted the water pipes, which put out the fire, but the water ran all day and now we have severe smoke and water damage. The downstairs is mainly water damage, the upstairs is toast!

So, we have had family over all week helping tear out walls upstairs and clean off smoke damage downstairs. I have never done so much laundry. Today is another day....raining and more family coming over. Not much left for them. Monday, professional restoration cleaners will be coming to do the deep cleaning.

Really just very tired and sad that no painting can be done. Someday...........
